Silver Hill Volunteer Fire Department provides a unique opportunity for Firefighters, who operate two engine companies. Whether you come to us with training or are new to the fire/rescue service, we can provide you with diverse experiences. Our location next to the nation’s capital provides a dynamic setting in which to be an aggressive firefighter: High-speed highways lend themselves to motor vehicle accidents; commercial, residential, and industrial parks demand response for building fires, technical rescues, HAZMAT response, along with catching the overflow of the county’s busy EMS service.
Operating as a Volunteer at Silver Hill Volunteer Fire Department will give you the opportunity to serve various functions including Firefighter, Driver / Operator, and Officer. You will be part of a Volunteer crew with others just like you, interested in getting the job done. Our call volume and endless training opportunities keep us busy and afford us the best chance to stay on top of our game.
All training is provided for at the area’s nationally accredited training centers including Prince George’s County Fire/Rescue Training Academy, MFRI, or various Homeland Security facilities. These training centers offer a variety of classes including:

- Emergency Vehicle Operator
- Pump Operator
