What makes Silver Hill Volunteer Fire Department ideal for those seeking a unique experience as an EMT-B is that what departments in other jurisdictions call “unique,” we experience every day. Our location next to the nation’s capital provides a diverse area producing a variety of calls including motor vehicle accidents, cardiac and respiratory emergencies, shootings, stabbings, assaults, and injured persons.
Operating as a Volunteer EMT-B at Silver Hill Volunteer Fire Department affords one of the most hands-on experience in the field of emergency medicine as one can get. We operate a single BLS Ambulance staffed with two Volunteer EMT-B’s. You will be part of a Volunteer crew with others just like you, interested in getting the job done. Our call volume and endless training opportunities keep us busy and afford us the best chance to stay on top of our game.
All training is provided for at the area’s nationally accredited training centers including Prince George’s County Fire/Rescue Training Academy, MFRI, or various Homeland Security facilities. These training centers offer a variety of classes including,
- Emergency Medical Technician – Basic
- CPR
- Infectious Control
- Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS)
- Emergency Vehicle Operator Course
- Various specialties in the areas of Pediatrics, Geriatrics, and Trauma
- Instructor I / II / III
